We were recently referred to Reverend Harvey Barnes, by the funeral director who was responsible for the initial service.
Sadly, this was due to our previous minister not reading a close family members eulogy upon the day of the funeral itself. Which caused great family distress.
We initially engaged Harvey, to conduct a graveside Birthday remembrance service for our dearest mum, who I am proud to say spent her happiest years whilst she was living and growing up with family and friends in Plymouth.
It was clear from our initial family engagement, that Harvey was the professional, caring and compassionate minister that we should have engaged from the start.
Mum loved music and how it always brought people together, and also how it made them happy in sad and challenging times.
She was an eternally caring, warm and loving person and her positivity always shone through eternally to all she met, making many friends that loved her for who she was.
Harvey, took time from first meeting us to get to know what we wanted for the service, but more importantly to understand who mum was, and what she valued the most from life. This was family, friends and always music and her knowledge of the subject was rarely disputed.
With this in mind Harvey, was able to customise her birthday service with key pieces of music that were her favourite pieces, and songs that had special meaning to match happy and memorable times. Always keeping the sermon professional, and with important readings that reflected sincerity.
We were particularly impressed with how Harvey was able to reflect her spiritual and caring nature, with actual readings and passages within the bible, that embraced her warmth towards others.
Thank you again Harvey, it was a real honour for us to have you conducting the birthday service and also for ensuring that mum’s memorial graveside blessing and eulogy reading were professional.
We would not hesitate to recommend or engage you again for the future.
Kindest Regards.
Barry and Sue.
