Notice: In addition to phone calls and email communication, I can also offer online video meetings via Zoom.
In modern times, the funeral service has evolved and there is no longer a 'typical ceremony'. Nowadays, families have a much greater input in deciding upon the content and tone of the service. Along with mourning, there may be expressions of joy - perhaps even laughter.
Making the funeral arrangements for a loved one may actually help us work through the grieving process. I am here to offer support and to provide a personalised ceremony which focuses on the person who has died and I endeavour to do so in a caring and compassionate manner.
Whilst I'm a Christian minister, this does not mean the service has to be overly religious if those are not the wishes of the family or of their loved one. My nature is down-to-earth and my approach, sincere. Families decide upon the level of religious content they desire - from commending their loved one into God's care at the end of the service to a more traditional funeral or something in between.
I take funerals at both Weston Mill Crematorium and Efford Crematorium in addition to other chapels in Plymouth, such as Ford Park, and those which are located in funeral homes around the city. I also officiate at graveside burial services and interment of ashes within the local authority cemeteries throughout Plymouth as well as at private cemeteries, such as Drake Memorial Park.
I have a good working relationship with all of the local funeral directors and, if you would like me to conduct a funeral service, they will already have my contact information
Once instructed by your chosen funeral director, I will make every effort to contact you on the same day so I can arrange a convenient day and time to discuss the service in detail. We can communicate over the phone and via email and I can also offer online video meetings via Zoom, if you would prefer.
Before we talk, it may be helpful to give some thought to your choice of music, poems and readings for the service. However, I can also help with suggestions. I can create a tribute for your loved one and deliver it during the ceremony or a family member or friend may like to compose their own, which they or I can present during the service. I offer guidance and support to those taking part so they feel able to express their sentiments on the day.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
